Eagles Partner with WNBL Melbourne Boomers

The South-East Eagles Basketball Club are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with WNBL side, the Melbourne Boomers.

The South-East Eagles Basketball Club are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with WNBL side, the Melbourne Boomers.

The agreement will see Eagles players benefit directly with an elite national side that is invested in grassroots basketball.

As part of the partnership, the club will be recognised as official partners of the Melbourne Boomers, have a player appearance at our Annual Christmas Breakup, an invitation to a coaching session conducted by Boomers Head Coach Guy Molloy, plus a Melbourne Boomers camp to be held exclusively for the South-East Eagles Basketball Club.

Boomers General Manager Justin Nelson is excited to have South-East Eagles supporting the program as a domestic club.

“Melbourne Boomers is delighted to welcome the South-East Eagles aboard as an official partner for the 2015/16 WNBL season”, said Nelson.

“It highlights their focus on promoting the top echelon of the sport and linking with strong role models for everyone at the Eagles, said Nelson”.

“The Eagles are clearly a very progressive basketball club, they do a terrific job in connecting grassroots basketball with the elite level, which is a vital part of the culture we are building at the Melbourne Boomers.”

While there are many benefits in partnering with Melbourne Boomers, the cream on the cake is a ticketing initiative the Boomers have crafted to give back to Victorian associations. For every ticket sold online to a Boomers home game (State Basketball Centre) using South East Eagles unique code, 50% of the profits will return to the club, something Nelson is encouraging families to do.

“Everyone at the Melbourne Boomers is looking forward to seeing South-East Eagles players and families at our WNBL games and we strongly encourage all of them to purchase their tickets online through Eagles, that way significant funds will go back to the club, helping to support the Eagles and their initiatives.”

South-East Eagles President Leanne Crees is looking forward to once again partnering with a national level team in what is another coup for the club.

“It’s an exciting time to be at South-East Eagles after what has been a big couple of years”, said Crees.

“We have had great success on the court recently with 12 teams winning their Grand Final’s in the 14/15 Summer Season. Prior to that, we have enjoyed a successful partnership with NBL club Melbourne Utd. along with the announcement of our very own USA Basketball Tour later this year.

“The Melbourne Boomers are a true family club that is actively looking to put back into the grassroots level of basketball. We are proud to be partnering with this elite program and we believe that it will allow our aspiring young players to see first-hand what it takes to play at the elite level. Maybe one day we’ll see one of our own little Eagles playing for the Boomers!”
